On Monday, February 6th, at our Lewistown Lady Indians Girls Basketball home game vs. Farmington, our Lady Indians Basketball team and fans in attendance will stand up against cancer.
So many families in our community have been impacted by cancer. The Lady Indians will wear a special shirt as a warm-up that evening to support awareness. Fans have had an opportunity to purchase shirts as well. The wording will say, "Fight Cancer In Every Color,” with a multicolored ribbon to represent all types of cancer. Proceeds from the shirt sale along with a 50/50 raffle will be donated to Illinois Cancer Care.
Signs will be offered to fans where they can add the name(s) of their loved one who is fighting or who has fought cancer. We will ask fans to stand with their sign in support of their loved one while we play “This is my Fight Song” just before the start of the varsity game to honor those loved ones. Colored ribbons will also be offered to fans so that they may represent the type of cancer that is impacting their life or the life of someone they love.
A representative from the Fulton County Health Department will be at the game to share information about their services that may help community members detect and prevent cancer.
Please pack the stands, purchase 50/50 tickets, and show your support for those fighting cancer. If you stick around after the game, we would love to take a photo with our cancer fighters and survivors along with our team!
